Justice A S Naidu is new Hockey Odisha president

Orissa High Court Justice (Retd) A S Naidu was today elected as the new president of Hockey Odisha, replacing Dr Ananga Mohapatro, while Pratap Satpathy retained his post as general secretary for a four-year term (2013 to 2017).

Both the president and general secretary along with eight vice-presidents, four joint-secretaries and one treasurer were elected unopposed in the general body meeting at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

The number of posts for vice-president was increased from six to eight, while the of assistant secretaries was changed to joint-secretaries and the number was raised from two to four.

According to HO secretary Satpathy, the number of posts for vice-presidents and joint-secretaries was increased to give women opportunity to get involved in the administrative affairs of the sport in Odisah. ``We made the changes to give 30 per cent positions to women in our state body,`` said Satpathy.

From among the previous office-bearers, Olympian Michael Kindo was dropped from the post of vice-president. Hockey India observer and Hockey Haryana secretary Sunil Malik, State Sports Secretary Hrushikesh Tripathy and Odisha Olympic Association secretary Asirbad Behera were present in the meetng.
